Simple enough question.
In 2026, more and more people are living paycheck to paycheck, and no one has the time or money to focus on long-term goals. It is easy to tell people not to go out to eat and to pack their lunch, but nowadays, going to the grocery store to fully stock your pantry costs half your mortgage.
If you are lucky enough to have a mortgage to begin with.
The average first-time homebuyer is 41.
Can you imagine what it will be 10 years from now?
It almost seems like the dream of owning a home is going to be replaced by saving for your retirement because both do not seem feasible in this day and age.
So, OK Ms. 20-something-year-old, how much debt are you in? What is your degree in?
More to the point... can you get a job with your degree, or is it one of those 'gateway' degrees that get you in the door but it's not exactly what you went to school for?
Now that you have all this debt, are you trying to pay it off, or are you hoping that Uncle Sam will pay for it?
There are ways to slowly save for not only your future but to pay off your outstanding debts. It will be hard, and a lot of tough choices will have to be made, but... there IS a way to do it.
